The Opportunity

We are excited to be working with an industry leading cyber-security Startup based in London, on a rapid growth path for the foreseeable future.  They provide strong biometric identity authentication of online users. It focuses on enabling users to log into online services simply, yet securely, and are specialists in facial recognition.

This is a fantastic opportunity to develop technical and business skills in a fast growing startup and to exchange knowledge and skills with a passionate and experienced team.



Day to day, you'll be working from their friendly London based office near Waterloo with 2-3 other developers working on the project. The team is mostly self-organising with a flat-ish management structure, with regular syncs and good communication processes to ensure nobody gets stuck. There is steering from the leadership team when needed, but other than that, you have independence of thought and autonomy to get on with your job!


The Role:

As Android Engineer  you will:

  • Develop native Android apps in Java
  • Work on shipping releases and new features
  • Collaborate and debate on ideas to improve processes and structure
  • Use your initiative to get on with your own work load without the need for daily guidance
  • Building Android library projects in Maven/AAR or similar




Tech Stack

  • Good knowledge of Gradle and Android Studio
  • Rest API’s and HTTP knowledge
  • MVP (or similar) design pattern experience
  • Previous experience with RxJava
  • Experience in unit testing (e.g. Espresso) and working with CI tools like Jenkins
  • Good interpersonal skills (at all levels) with the confidence to state a clearly reasoned and articulated viewpoint.
  • You should be happy to take initiative be self-motivated and organised
  • The right to work in the EU.



Desirables include:

  • Android camera APIs
  • Any experience in video processing apps
  • OpenGL
  • Understanding of video encoding (H.264, MediaCodec APIs)
  • Kotlin
